Avandamet is not killing people - diabetes is killing people. Of course people are at risk of heart failure duh... They have diabetes. without control you die and thanks to the FDA a lot of us will die because the other medications do not work. God bless Canada they let you buy it!

I have tried every form of diabetic medication with not results. My A1c stayed at 7.1 up to 9.0 until I was perscribed Anandamet. After Avandamet, my A1C stayed at 6.0 to 7. and I was able to eat anything within normal reason without blood sugar spikes. Here we go again with the government killing people. My A1c is back up to above 7.8 and I am starving myself to keep it there. This is the biggest bunch of junk. Leave us alone.........

My otherwise healthy mom died of a massive heart attack from avandamet. Thank glaxokline. U can never bring her back to me. I hope your greediness was worth it for you. Still grieving....

I was taking Avandamet for 15 years with perfect results of A1c testing being at 5.7..and no problems. Now that we are playing around w/multiple drugs trying to find one that works for me..my A1c has risen to 7.9, and daily blood sugar testing has been higher than ever for me. Not happy at all..would rather take a chance of surviving a heart attack than ending up on dialysis for the rest of my life..

I have taken Avandia for ten years now it controls my blood sugar very well and I have not had any heart issues. My doctor last month changed me to Actos and I hate it. I swelled up like a balloon, had no energy , heaviness in my chest, harder to breath and feel like I am dragging around a 50 lb. weight. Then I look on the internet and see that Actos is linked to bladder cancer and has been pulled from the market in France and Germany. What do I do now? Where do I go to get on the list for Avandia supporters? Is it going to cost me a fortune to mail order it?

It's over now so where my money at? I have not receive any money yet, my
Lawyer settle all his cases out of court and still can't tell me how much I'm getting I had two hearts attack. Think we all should get over a million. I want my money now. Can you tell how long does it take to get our settlement?

Now that all of this bad press is coming out, ah Hell would that not be the same as conspiracy to commit murder, why not they new it could kill us. Had someone on the FDA panel,, who do you crooks think you are. You no damn good and well that alot of suits you say are settled them lawyers said $46,000.00 are you out of your mind and you have been doing it for 10 years. The settlement for any plantiff should be between 1/2 to 1 million per plantiff, that figure is probably low seeing what has happened this last week. Get some sleep if you can do that after trying to take me away from my 9 grandchildren. Come on people (Lawyers and Plantiffs) lets show these foreigners the real AMERICAN spirit yeah that's right i said AMERICAN and damn proud of it. Bend over boys I am here to fight this all the way..

My husband Eugene C Frabcis died from this medication--why this poison is still on the mrket is a sin==I cannot bring back my husband but I will go to my grave to have his voice heard through me--this is a sin to victoms of this medicine--

I am a family physician who, for the last 35 years, has directed an aggressive screening clinic for the primary and secondary prevention of atherothrombotic disease (ATD), which includes heart attacks and heart failure, as well as strokes, aortic aneurysms, etc. The screening evaluation includes a lipid profile, two-hour postprandial glucose, blood pressure, and most importantly cigarette smoking status. The tool is an accurate predictor of the population at risk of ATD. Since most diabetics have lipid abnormalities long before their sugar levels rise, I see "diabetics" long before they actually become diabetic. I treat their asociated ATD risk factors to goal, and so when the blood sugar rises, I simply add on a medication to lower the sugar. As a result of this program, the average age of death in my never-smoking diabetics is 80 years of age. I presented this data at the 2003 annual scientific symposium of the American Academy of Family Physicians in New Orleans. More recently, I presented data at the 2009 scientific symposium of the International Atherosclerosis Society in Boston to show that the prediction of the population at risk of ATD is independent of blood sugar level, and I will present this data again in Hamburg at the 2010 scientific symposium of the Eauropean Atherosclerosis Society in June. I use Avandia because it is less expensive ($100/month less expensive) than Actos, which I also use at times. To date no diabetic patient of mine treated with Avandia has sustained a heart attack or gone into heart failure. The reason why is probably that I treat intensely the diabetic's associated ATD risk factors. Because of the expense of Actos, I am not planning on ceasing to prescribe Avandia.

While was taking avandia I had a persistant cough which was a sensation like something was stuck in my throat. Because I work with people and coughing is not very appealing to those in close proximity I chose to stop taking the medication. I was told that it would lessen my chances of kidney failure, heart attacks and strokes and help my medication work better. I found that my blood sugars were no different, while on Avandia. However, increasing the doseage of my diabetic medication did help for a while until I eventually went on insulin.

I would like to know if these results are taken from patients who have been long term users of avamdia. I have been taking Avandia for 10 years. Would you advise me to talk to my Dr, about an alternative medication?
